We walked into the gate, crossed the patio and stepped in the house with two IKEA bags each. We left the bags, walked back to the car and picked up our large cardboard box with a lovely new bookcase inside. We propped the large box in the guest bedroom, turned around and froze.
There, on the ground outside the door in the bright sunlight was a huge scolopendra.
Stunned, disoriented and sluggish, no doubt it had fallen from the IKEA box that we had carried.
We moved it to a shady, sheltered part of the garden. But first, I took some macro shots!
