Spaghetti Weekend

We’ve been travelling quite a lot.

Last weekend we went to Almeria, which one of my ex-students described as “home to the espaguetti westerns” (add slight Spanish accent). When we organised the trip, the point was to go see and take photos of the places that inspired films such as “The Good the Bad and the Ugly”, “For a Fistful of Dollars” and “They Call Me Trinity”. I wanted to see the landscapes, I wanted to feel the heat, I wanted to breath the dust and .. take photos as if I were in a true spaghetti western film.

So we did.

We were hosted by a couple of friends and before heading off to the biggest park that had anything to offer, “Mini Hollywood”, we had pasta all’Amatriciana. Spaghetti of course!

Boyfriend made it and, unsurprisingly, it was really good 🙂

On this occasion I discovered that not all Spaniards don’t know how to eat spaghetti. Some do.

Another one of my stereotypes debunked!

Then we headed off to Mini Hollywood. I used a filter after taking the photos to make them more “westerny” and I only put the cool ones here, of course. The useless, blurred, boring ones were for my eyes and my eyes only!

The western town. It was made quite well.

A random staff member. There were not many but the ones that were there were in full costume.

And a detail. So far west!!

We watched a staged shoot out. It wasn’t amazing but wasn’t awful either. Made for good photos.

I particularly appreciated the details of the site, which were carefully laid out and kept quite well.

They were cool, too.

There were very few tourists, so it wasn’t bad.
