The difference between cacti and succulents is the same as the one an Indian man once told me was the difference between people whose last name is Singh and people who follow the Sikh religion. What he said was that “all Sighs are Sikh but not all Sikhs are Singhs.” The same applies to succulents and cacti: “(nearly) all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti“.
Succulents are plants that have special structures to retain water.
Cacti are a kind of succulent that have turned their leaves into spines for defence and whose stems/branches now have chlorophyll and perform photosynthesis.
And a succulent’s flowers are surprisingly sexy. Here they are.
