Salmon Flowers

I saw the recipe on facebook and decided to try it. I cut the zucchine too thick – I recommend using a carrot peeler and making them extra thin. I also made the cream cheese a little more fun by adding turmeric (just a little bit!), lemon zest and ginger jam (the amazing one we bought in singapore).

The method is pretty easy.

Slice the puff pastry…

…spread the cream cheese…

…place the zucchini, overlapping slightly and overflowing on the top of the strip of puff pastry…

…add some smoked salmon….

..fold the bottom of the strip upwards, to fix the zucchini and salmon…

…and then roll it! The first one might come out a bit odd, but you’ll get the hang of it soon enough 😉

Place them a few cms apart on a baking tray, covered with baking paper, and cook at 180C for about 30/40 minutes or until the cream cheese has been bubbling slightly for 10/15 minutes.

I thought they were amazingly good – a great appetizer, or even a main, and also they could be used as a side for a cream with a fishy base. I hope you liked my recipe, please comment and follow my facebook page if you did 🙂
