Lilacs bring me to summer days in the countryside. It’s hot and every single insect is alive and buzzing around between the huge mulberry tree and the two thirsty lilacs. Their smell is inebriating, their colour magnificent and their panicles of flowers are irresistible.
Originally from the Balkans, where they grow on rocky hillsides, the lilac is a close cousin to jasmine and olive trees. Such a wonderful family!
