The day the hurricane’s tail struck our holiday island, it was sunny and warm and humid like every day had been before that. We knew it had to arrive, but somehow we were just hoping it wouldn’t.
Then the light started to falter and the coconut palms fluttered in the growing wind and I looked up and…
…took a photo.
After that we rushed to our rooms to watch Downton Abbey and play cards. We were on holiday, after all.
Looks like you were recently on Martinique. I have heard they have a problem with seaweed build up. Did you notice any problems? If not, can you advise which beaches you visited?

Dear Joe,
first of all thank you for stopping by! Unfortunately this was a few years ago and I have no idea what the situation is now. I did find this post that could be of use to you: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g147327-i787-k8821941-Sargassum_Seaweed_How_Prevelant-Martinique.html
I would go anyway. The island is small – if there are problems on one side, you can always go to the other! Let me know if you do, and what your thoughts were 🙂
All the best!
