One day, while I was staying in Cuenca, we went down to the river.
The rivers that flows beneath the town are called Júcar and Huécar rivers. This one is the Júcar, rather more important and larger than the other.
The best thing about this outing was the temperature – finally a bit cooler – and the views. Up above us, the city and its houses on one side and majestic rock formations, sculpted by the weather, on the other. The river flowed quietly with thick riparian vegetation on either side and a milky, turquoise colour. There were fishermen and bathers and runners and cyclists. A great asset to have for a city like Cuenca.
