My Son means Beautiful Mountain. Once, there were around 70 structures between temples, towers and meditation rooms - after the American war, only a handful remain among the bomb craters. Most had to be rebuilt.
Vietnamese omelette, that we made ourselves during our wonderful cooking class in a village near Hoian. We used eggs, rice flour, shrimps, chicken. Then it was rolled with rice paper on the outside and salad and herbs on the inside... delicious!

We found out that many couples come to Hoian to get their engagement photos done before the wedding. This chinese couple was one of those, and they were absolutely stunning in front of the japanese bridge!
Hoian is everything we expected, with some surprises. The lanterns, the tourist traps, the photo ops, the good food were what we expected. The rubbish in the smelly river, the size (it’s tiny!), the rats comfortably roaming two meters from the crowd and the continuously friendly people were a surprise! We loved it. I think we took 500 photos in one night.
Hoian has a lot of street food. Among which, this little body builder of a toad. Which we tasted. Because I mean.... otters eat them, don’t they? And, I must say, especially compared to other amphibians I have eaten in Europe, he was quite tasty!
In @sunworldbanahills there are lots of spectacular things: a french village; a peacock made of flowers; a temple... and a 27m tall blindingly white statue of Buddha.
