As you know, I read the guide. And the guide said to take a stroll down the malecón at sunset, so we did.
First of all, the malecón – a walkway along the sea – was started in 1901 and is really, really long. 8kms. Which wasn’t mentioned with enough emphasis in the guide.
Second of all, the seawall is too low. This means that the sidewalk on the sea side is constantly covered in algae, seaweed and the waves that crash over the wall shower unsuspecting tourists.
Third of all, it is maybe one of the most beautiful and breath taking places in Havana.
