To eat with your eyes (an Italian saying)

To stare at someone (or something) so much that the other person feels as if you’re eating him or her…with your eyes. To look at someone with desire. A lot of it.

But this saying can also work with food. All the senses must be acknowledged and looked after when you’re cooking. If a really really good dish looks unappetising, you’ve failed at least half of your task. And if you plate a beautiful, spectacular looking dish…well, you’re already halfway to success.

This dish needs no explaining really. It’s not even a recipe, it’s just a gorgeous piece of edible art.
